Massage Therapy
There are two Massage Therapy programs offered by The Academy:
| Massage Foundation • 700 Hour Program Tuition and Financing Six Months • September–March, March–September Our Next Massage & Dual Program will begin March 12, 2012.The day program is for those students who wish to study during the day, from 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM, 5 days per week. Encompassing training in Swedish and deep-tissue massage, with introductions to various other modalities, the Massage Foundation program is designed to provide focused instruction in massage, anatomy & physiology, communication skills, clinical exposure and professional development.
The program is divided into three terms. The first is eight weeks long, during which students receive basic massage techniques along with anatomy & physiology. In the second and third terms, students build on their anatomy and physiology studies while learning deep tissue and specific modalities such as Lomi Lomi, Thai Massage, Reflexology, Ortho-Bionomy and aromatherapy. Graduates of this integrated program will bring a multi-layered skill-set into leading spas, private practice and clinical settings such as chiropractic offices, physical therapy, acupuncture or other medical clinics. |
Evening Massage • 700 Hour Program Tuition and Financing
Twelve Months • October – October The evening program is designed for those who must work during the day or who wish to maintain their current lifestyle while they train for a new profession. While the curriculum is similar to the day program, the structure of this program requires that students be self-motivated and focused. The transition from student to professional therapist is facilitated in the evening program as there is ample time off for the student to network and explore professional opportunities. It is optimal in this program that students work no more than 30 hours per week. |
In recent years, 100% of the Academy’s graduates have passed the National Certification exam. Compare that to the national average of 50%.
Students who enroll in the Massage Therapy program are interested in a well-rounded holistic foundation building toward an energetic bodywork practice. Graduates of this program will be eligible to take the National Certification Examination in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork or the Massage Board Licensing Exam in order to become a licensed massage therapist.
